Any car crash victim should be aware of the whiplash symptoms that occur right after the accident (or even days after it). Once you become aware of the symptoms, you would then be able to make the appropriate action that needs to be done. The more information and knowledge that you have regarding the radiating pain on your neck or shoulders, the more able you will be to seek specific medical help.
Radiating neck pain caused by a motor vehicular crash isn’t a simple medical condition that you can just heal on your own. Your health isn’t something that you would want to gamble on.
After a traumatic car accident, you should immediately see a doctor that is qualified to examine these injuries. Even if you feel alright or are able to walk away in one piece after the crash, it is still needful that a physician first declares that nothing’s wrong with you. Not a lot of people actually follow this advice, though.
The radiating pain is not there because of nothing; there has to be something wrong that’s why your body is responding with this type of pain. Would you believe that some patients actually feel the pain years after the crash? Better to be sure than sorry, so have a doctor take a few tests in order to rule out serious cases such as brain injury.
Many studies report that, in addition to female sex and older age, the following findings or symptoms are associated with a poor outcome: (1) neck pain on palpation, (2) muscle pain, (3) radiating pain into the upper extremities, and (4) headache.
It is still probable that you would still experience a great deal of neck pain even if you didn’t hit your head on the windshield or even if you do not have any broken bones. The report on people who experience radiating neck pain after a serious car crash is actually a staggering ninety-eight percent! This is an alarming percentage that needs to be addressed correctly.
Once you feel a prickling, tingling or warm sensation on your neck, then it is guaranteed that the muscles on your shoulder and neck area have been ripped. Some car crash victims actually argue that they were wearing their seatbelts when they had the crash and that there couldn’t be anything seriously wrong with them. This is quite a wrong notion for the head could actually snap forward and backward during a crash. Accompanying symptoms that are reported with whiplash pain are headaches, ligament injuries, and other muscle pains.
These symptoms only point towards one fact – something is internally wrong. Remember that the longer you prolong setting an appointment with a qualified physician, the longer the pains could remain.
